The power of longevity
Two people can both be 50, yet 15 years apart in health.
One is strong, with decades of good living ahead. The other has health issues building quietly with no idea they are there.
The Sussex Longevity Clinic measures exactly where your health is right now.
We use ten evidence based tests that give us an incredible base of knowledge about you as an individual. This allows you to understand your health now and what you need to change to optimise your future longevity and wellbeing
A longevity doctor and a specialist physiotherapist assess you together. It takes about three hours and you get a personalised report you can read, and a plan to make a real difference to your current health and future longevity.
Don’t wait until something’s gone wrong to be proactive about your health.

Your health,
measured properly
Blood tests tell you about your biochemistry. Useful, but only part of the story.
We measure your chemistry alongside how your body performs: how efficiently your heart and lungs deliver oxygen, how strong you are, how well you move and balance. Put those together and you can see which system is likely to limit you first, and how much room you have to change it.
The assessment covers 10 markers. Each one earned its place by having a real evidence base in ageing research behind it.
How it all works
The assessment (around three hours)
Bloods, cardiorespiratory fitness testing, body composition, strength, mobility and balance. Both clinicians are in the room. You’ll be working reasonably hard for part of it, so bring kit.
01
Your Report
Every marker, what your result means, and how it sits against the ranges for your age and sex. Written in plain English so you'll actually read it.
02
Your plan
Two or three priorities, ranked by what will make the biggest difference to you. Specific enough to start on Monday morning. We'll tell you what to ignore as well as what to work on.

What is longevity medicine?
Longevity medicine looks ahead. It asks a simple question: what can we do now, while you are well, to keep you well for longer?
It measures two things.
Lifespan
is how many years you live.
Healthspan
is how many of those years you spend strong, active and sharp.
In the UK the two are a long way apart.
Men live to about 79 and women to about 83. But healthy life expectancy for both is only about 61. That leaves 18 years of poor health for men and 22 for women. The gap is getting wider. Closing it is our job. Most of what shapes those years builds up slowly and quietly. Heart risk grows for 30 years before you feel it. Insulin resistance creeps up with no symptoms at all. You start losing muscle and bone in your 30s. All of it can be measured now, while you are well.
Most of it improves if you act early.
Who this is for
i.
You're already doing the work
You train, you track your sleep, you've read the popular health books. You want real numbers instead of estimates from a wearable, and someone qualified to tell you what they mean.
ii.
Something has made you think
A parent's diagnosis, a birthday with a zero in it, a blood result that came back borderline. You're well, and you'd like to stay that way, and you don't want to wait for the next scare.
iii.
You've been told you're fine
Your NHS bloods came back normal. "Normal" is a wide range built around the population average, and average health in the UK isn't the target. We measure against what's optimal for your age.

We're based in Brighton and Hove and see people from across Sussex: Hove, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, Worthing, Horsham and the surrounding villages. Also a fair few who'd otherwise be on a train to Harley Street for the same assessment at twice the price.
The Sussex Longevity Clinic is a subsidiary of the Sussex Wellman Clinic.
Frequently asked questions
-
A clinic focused on measuring how you're ageing biologically and functionally, then helping you change the trajectory, rather than treating illness once it arrives. Testing is more detailed than a standard health check and covers fitness, strength and movement alongside bloods.
-
Chronological age is your birthday. Biological age estimates how worn your body actually is, based on markers like cardiovascular fitness, metabolic health, inflammation and strength. Two 50-year-olds can be a decade or more apart. Biological age estimates vary by method, so we show you the underlying markers too, because those are what you can change.
-
Around 2.5 hours for the assessment itself, with your detailed report and plan sent out to you soon after completion.
-
Usually no. We have the time, equipment and expertise that your GP normally doesn’t. The NHS waits for a problem to occur and then tries to fix it. We are looking to help prevent you becoming unwell to start with.
-
The measurements we use are. Cardiorespiratory fitness, ApoB, HbA1c, grip strength and body composition all have substantial peer-reviewed literature linking them to long-term health outcomes. We don't offer unproven treatments or supplements, and we'll tell you when the evidence for something is thin.
